I am one who dreams deeply, even when I don't understand. I seek hard after the truth, even though I am stumbling more than I am making progress. I live with the hope that somewhere, dreams and truth intertwine, and make sense of this life. I live mostly in darkness, but every once in a while, catch a ray of light that shines on this far country, straight from home, where I am headed. That is why I am who I am, He is who He is, and you are who you are, and all of us are walking together towards the light.

Nothing Without You

I've come to a bit of a revelation tonight. It seems that although I've believed in God and doing His work in the world, I had miscalculated what it means to live in His will. I thought that if I was not being active and doing something on a large scale in the world (like going to Africa or something), that I was not being responsible for my Christian life. I've been more and more discontent with where I am and where I want to be, and have been wrestling with wanting to leave where I am now and go fulfill my dreams. But I realised something. Those things that I want to do may be good in of themselves, but if I'm not living within God's will, then nothing I do will be blessed. God can work with me more if I allow Him to control my life, and surrender to His will for me. If that means staying where I am, then so be it. It is so much easier to live in the will of God, and know that God has a good plan for me, than to take matters into my own hands and throw away what God could give me if I'd trust Him to do it in His own good time. Bebo Norman says it well in his latest hit song.

"Take these hands
And lift them up
For I have not the strength
to praise you near enough
For I am nothing
I am nothing
Without you

All my heart seeks
Is for your love
To cover me
So all the world can see
That I am nothing without you
"

It is so true that without God to 'lift up our hands', and to 'Cover us' with his grace, that we are nothing. We have nothing to live for if it isn't to praise Him. If we truly believe that He is worthy of praise, then we should give our dreams to Him and let Him lead the way. His plans are so much better than the plans of man, and God will never leave or forsake us. Life becomes so much happier when we give our will to let Him make it His own.
