A Poem
Inspired By the song,
'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring'

I look up at the clouds,
Watching,
Waiting,
They stare at me with omniscity
I thought I saw a flicker of it
Somewhere,
Anywhere,
I wait for the joy
I hear it in the distance
Faintly,
Yearning,
I strain my ears
I see the clouds are moving
Quickly,
Swiftly,
But something lingers here
The sound is coming nearer
Stronger,
Louder,
But has an air of silence
The eyes of my heart are opening
Cracking,
Squinting,
The light is piercing the darkness
My soul is now being born
Crying,
Reaching,
For I know that it is coming
The rays shoot forth upon me
Warmly,
Softly,
As heaven whispers to me
The notes are love and sadness
bittersweet,
Sorrowful,
As sung by voices long forgotten
And as the sun descends to earth
Gracefully,
Unbroken,
My heart is opened wide
It falls upon the darkness
Kindling,
Lighting,
And I am filled again
the grace that once enveloped me
Forgotten,
Remembered,
Circles back again
The sun is now shining
Infinite,
Eternal,
With blinding emotion
My soul is drawn by it's radiance
Onward,
Upward,
Until I see it clearly
My voice sings with praise
Flowing,
Running,
Rising before the throne
It fulfils my ultimate desires
Finally,
Lovingly,
Till the Son is my existence
All time now is come
Finished,
Completed,
As the beginning finally comes to pass.

With the flame that consumes, and gives no pain...

Greetings to all of the wanderers who have happened upon this blog,
whether purposely or accidentally. This is the first official posting
to be given to it's contents. I hope to elaborate what this blog is to
be, in purpose and in spirit.
I have started this blog as the account of my spiritual inspirations,
to be given in a creative and contemplative way. I hope to branch off
of the ancient Christian tree, which started from before the beginning
of time, and was realized in the coming of Christ to our dying world.
In this journal of sorts, I hope to provide an enviroment of
reflective, contemplative praise, to our Lord, who has delivered
salvation to all of us.
It is in the spirit of contemplation that I named this account after
Saint John Of The Cross, for it is he to whom is given the patronage of
contemplative living and mythical theology. I hope to combine the
effects of both to provide a haven for all who may stumble upon it. I
hope that through it, Christ will shine in His holiness, as both
ancient and modern worship comes together to make whole that which was
broken. Maybe the spirit of this journal is better conveyed by the
saint himself, as he portrays in his writing the great love that the
Bride of Christ shows to its groom, beloved above all, our great
Savior:

Let us rejoice, O my Beloved,
Let us go forth to see ourselves in Your beauty,
To the mountain and the hill,
Where the pure water flows:
Let us enter into the heart of the thicket.
We shall go at once
To the deep caverns of the rock
Which are all secret;
There we shall enter in,
And taste of the new wine of the pomegranate.
There you will show me
That which my soul desired;
And there You will give at once,
O You, my life,
That which You gave me the other day.
The breathing of the air,
The song of the sweet nightingale,
The grove and its beauty
In the serene night,
With the flame that consumes, and gives no pain.

Let us indeed go forth to see ourselves in His great beauty, see what
our soul desired, and learn to truly know the flame that consumes, and
gives no pain. For only by this flame can we truly shine.
May the peace of the Lord be always with His servants, and may He shine
His everlasting light in the souls of all His children.
